Miguel Pérez Iñesta, clarinet

Miguel Pérez Iñesta (Valladolid, 1980) began to play the clarinet at the age of 9. He started his studies with M. Torres in Asturias, continuing with J. Sánchez, A. Veintimilla and A. Weisgerber. Simultaneously he studied piano with P. de la Riva, C. Suárez and O. Semouschina and dance with A. Tassis and E. García.
En 2003 he moved to Berlin, where he continued his studies at the Musikhochschule “Hanns Eisler” with Karl-Heinz Steffens, obtaining his Diploma in 2008 and completing his postgraduate work in 2009. Between 2005 and 2007 he was a member of the Karajan Academy of the Berlín Philharmonic, orchestra with whom he continues to collaborate, and where he studied with W. Seyfarth and W. Fuchs.
He has won a number of prizes in national and international competitions such as: Juventudes Musicales España, clarinet and chamber music; “Hanns Eisler Preis” für Interpretation zeitgenössischer Musik; “Pedro Bote”, piano; Concurs Josep Mirabent i Magrants, chamber music.
Miguel collaborates with la Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, Kammerorchester Madrid-Berlin, Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin, Kammerakademie Potsdam and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, working with conductors such as Sir S. Rattle, Ch. Thielemann, B. Haitink, Z. Mehta, S. Ozawa, among others.
A fervent advocate of contemporary music, he has participated in projects with composers S. Gubaidulina, G. Kurtàg, G. Benjamin, B. Furrer, J. Schöllhorn, H. Lachenmann, J. Adams, T. Adès, J. Widmann, M. André.
As a chamber musician Miguel has performed with pianists like Emanuel Ax and Majella Stockhausen-Riegelbauer, the Scharoun Ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic, flautist Emmanuel Pahud and oboist Albrecht Mayer. Miguel is a founding member of several chamber music ensembles, including the Pérez Iñesta Trio, Chloé Trio, Madrid-Berlin Quintet and the Zafraan Ensemble, having been invited to international festivals in Portugal, Switzerland (Zermatt, Cully Classique), France (Aix-en-Provence), Germany (MärzMusik, Schleswig-Holstein, Klangwerkstatt, Sommermusiken, Thüringer Kammermusiktagen), Argentina (Mozarteum Argentino series), Spain (Festival Int. de Música y Danza de Granada, Leioa, Ciutadella, Festival de Alicante…), Albania, Costa Rica, Dominicanan Republic and South Korea.
He collaborates since 2007 with the Nationaltheater Mannheim in the muscial theatre production Rotkäppchen, by G. Aperghis, directed by M. Rebstock, performing in Mannheim, Berlin, Basil and Nuremberg.
Since 2006, he teaches masterclasses regularly in Portugal, Dominican Republic and in various places in Spain.
Miguel has been awarded scholarships from Fundación La Caixa, Deutsches Akademisches Austauschdienst (DAAD), Stiftung Berliner Philharmoniker, Yehudi Menuhin e. V. And has recorded for Deutschland Radio, Radio Nacional de España and EMI.
