Emmanuelle Bernard, Violin


Emmanuelle Bernard (Drôme, France, 1980) had her first violin lesson in the Conservatoire of Grenoble. In 1991, when only 11 years old, she entered the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School in England, where she studied with Natasha Boyarskaya, Wen Zu Li y Hu Kun. During her studies in England she performed at the Festival de Gstaadt in Switzerland, in the commemoration of the centenary of the UNESCO in Paris, at Buckingham Palace and at the Wigmore Hall. She also received masterclasses with professors such as Mauricio Fuks, Gilles Appap and Yehudi Menuhin.

In 1999 Emmanuelle entered the Musikhoschule Hanns Eisler in Berlin to study with Prof. Eberhard Feltz. After finishing her diploma in 2004, she continued her studies at the Solistenklasse of Gernot Süssmuth (Hochschule Franz Liszt, Weimar).

Emmanuelle has been granted scholarships by Frenswegener Kammermusikkurse, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Zermatt Festival and the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation in Berlin.

Emmanuelle has been invited to tour as a guest leader and soloist with ensembles such as European Union Chamber Orchestra or Heidelberger Symphoniker in Asia, Latin America and Europe. As a chamber musician, she has been invited to perform in festivals such as Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (Germany), Spoletto (Italy), Zermatt Festival (Switzerland) or Terras do Sousa (Portugal) and she regularly performs recitals at Grenoble and Lyon (France). In 2006 and 2008 she was awarded the Hanns Eisler prize in Berlin for the interpretation of Contemporary Music. Emmanuelle is a founding member of the Zafraan Ensemble, specialising in 20th and 21st century music, Ensemble Karkoschka, and the Berlin Chamber Players. Her playing has been broadcast by Deutschland Radio and for French radio and television.
